Parish Council Precept increase

You may have noticed that the Hilleley & Tresham element of Council Tax has risen by 120% this year.

There are several reasons for this:

  • Firstly, the internal auditor recommended increasing the reserve amount (money we can use in case of emergencies and unforeseen expenses).
  • Secondly, the Clerk's hours and pay have been increased, to get closer to recommended national rates for parishes of our size, and to reflect the hours actually worked (Heather - our Parish Clerk - does an excellent job, and is well worth every penny!)
  • Hillesley need to replace their village notice board

As a guide, in comparison with other parishes in our district, our precept value per head is now in the average band, whereas previously we were near the bottom.
