You may have heard that plaster from part of the ceiling in the church chancel fell suddenly in January. After getting through the necessary various stages (and unfortunately it was due to old age, so not covered by insurance), work is due to start on June 26th to repair it; scaffolding will be erected inside the church the week before. The church is being kept locked until the work is complete, to avoid anyone being hurt if there are further falls.

Please note that the service on July 2nd is cancelled, as the work will not be finished by then; there will be an investigation into the state of the ceiling in the rest of the church, and any necessary stabilisation will be done.

There are other services in the benefice that day i.e. St Mary’s, Wotton, at 8.00, 10.15 and 6.00 pm and at St Martin’s, North Nibley, at 9.30.
