I have been asked what you do if a standard router does not have enough “power” to get through thick “Tresham” walls.
One suggestion is to use this: http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/products/networking/powerline/PLW1000.aspx
or perhaps this:

with a wireless access point on the end.
Or you can route ethernet cables from your router to other wireless access points.
Tresham Village Broadband
An E-note was put round the village last Saturday, 6 Feb, advising that Cotswold Wireless could upgrade their existing broadband service, to which some six or seven households subscribe. The existing service provides 4Mbps at best, which it is understood BT sometimes rivals but can fall short of. Cotswold Wireless was saying that if 10 households are interested they will upgrade the equipment to 5GHz so that “10-20Mbps should be standard, perhaps higher”.
Well, 13 households have responded and Cotswold Wireless now expect to start working on the upgrade within the next fortnight. These households have been advised what action to take but new customers can still apply here. As indicated, there will be a charge of £50 plus vat for a receiver and cabling to be fitted. The receiver plugs into a standard wireless router and although the latter is supplied by the customer it can be your existing BT one or you can buy one for as little as £20 from Argos.
Cotswold Wireless automatically emails you about your usage enabling you to top up or review your package – see details.
Several other households have indicated interest but want to wait for their current broadband contracts to run out.
Further Comments about the upgrade will be added to this Post and villagers might want to add their own thoughts or queries.

Tristram Charnley of Cotswold Wireless advises the cost of top-ups is £10 for 10GB.
